There need be no difference from my POV.

The problem is the terminology. A "marriage" is defined to be between a man and a woman. This is all I've heard Bush say about it, and frankly, I think that is why most of America agrees with Bush about it.

Even the thought of redefining this term is stupid. It would instantly change the meaning of thousands upon thousands of statutes and related case law.

Gay unions are fine with me. If someone wants to be a homo who am I to tell them how bizarre the behavior is?

One gives you the appearance of being married without the tax and other benefits that go with being married in this country. The laws would have to be changed to make a gay union the same as a hetro marriage.

However, at this point, I have a feeling this separate but equal arrangement would be unacceptable to many gays. I think gays are where blacks were in the 1960s. And like blacks, they are running right up against those Christian white folks who know what's best for everyone else. I think there is an explosion brewing.

Only that marriage for generations way back before Shakespeare defines same union between man and woman so let that be.
