There need be no difference from my POV.

The problem is the terminology. A "marriage" is defined to be between a man and a woman. This is all I've heard Bush say about it, and frankly, I think that is why most of America agrees with Bush about it.

Is that really what all the fuss is about, whether a gay union can use the word "marriage" instead of the word "union"? Somehow, I don't think so. I think there are lots of legal benefits and obligations and tax ramifications and inheritance issues that apply to a marriage, but don't apply to a "gay unions", but I could be wrong.

If its just the vocabulary, what a waste of time and effort!

Amy probably thinks we should only vote in favor of gay marriages if we are willing to enter into one ourselves...... :-)
