Before 911, even Democrats agreed that Iraq was our most active and dangerous enemy. It was only natural that any terrorist act would raise suspicions about Saddam's involvement.

Lets just see how the responses stack up. I really believe if people keep an open mind that the response to my entire post (assuming they read it all) will be overwhelmingly positive and in agreement with how I've outlined things.

Just do me one favor my friend - go back and read it all 1 more time

Thanks

Gloop

"That came from the Bush admin. and only the Bush admin."

Wrong. One need only read Thomas Friedman's (hardly a "neocon" or Bush fan) columns from the 6+ months before the invasion to know that your assertion is wrong. Or you could ask Joe Lieberman, Joe Biden or any of the other (relative handful of) responsible, honest Democrats.

...Iraq Liberation Act of 1998 - Declares that it should be the policy of the United States to seek to remove the Saddam Hussein regime from power in Iraq and to replace it with a democratic government....

Oct 31, 98:
Became Public Law No: 105-338.
Signed by President Clinton

"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force — if necessary — to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security." --Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002.

"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program."
--President Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998.

"One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line."
--President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998

"[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs."
--Letter to President Clinton, signed by Sens. Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, and others Oct. 9, 1998.
