It's hard to study people for Western diseases that come with age, when the life expectancy is in the 40's- for Kenya it's 47. Even here people who eat extreme high fat diets, and get little exercise (unlike the Masai) tend to live until their 50's or 60's. My dad had his heart attack at 63- and like the Masai, he didn't eat veggies and lived on meat (and the occasional potato).

I don't think the Masai are probably the paradox some people might think they are. Interesting lives they lead, though- intense, and short.

Since nobody here has bothered to read the book, it is not clear whether Dr Campbell addresses the type of situation that exists with the Masai. Of course, it might be difficult to defend his conclusions as "scientifically" derived if he didn't examine the lack of these diseases.
