I am very familiar with that story. In fact, I don't have any real problem with cleaning out certain dictators. But I believe the US and Western Europe has an obligation to be the world's policemen, too.

But now many of the very same people saying we should be the world cop were saying a few years ago that we had no business being one. Something changed, and it wasn't just 9/11...

I opposed the Iraq war. Primarily because I agreed with Wesley Clark that Bush hadn't "made the case for this war at this time". Now true, I understand that after making the point that Gore's policies would turn the US into the world's policeman a major campaign issue, he couldn't come out and say "ooops, I was wrong. Gore had it right". That would have made him look like he would say anything to get elected. And he wouldn't do that, now would he?
