We have a senior citizen discount on property taxes in wa state. Won't qualify for quite a few years, but will take advantage when we do.

As for political promises.......what you describe is not specific to your area. They all work the same angles, tell the same stories and expect taxpayers to foot the bills. Lotto, pull tabs and similar devices were supposed to fund schools in this state......at least that is how they were sold to the public. Of course the billions the state takes in from gambling somehow doesn't all find its way into the accounts set up for schools and there is a short fall. I guess they will have to sell something else to cover it. Eventually even the die hard socialists have to recognize a scheme when they see one.

I can't remember the last time I voted to raise our taxes. It's not that I don't want to help others, it's that I'm tired of politicians taking advantage of me.
