This, however, is a losing proposition for the moment. There will be a time when the US will break up and spin off states into countries.

At one time, I would have laughed at that possibility but not now. About the only thing we really have in common is that most of us speak English and we've all been to McDonalds. The regional differences are much greater than I once thought.
