Trying to predict ecactly how much prices will fall (or how high they will go before the bust) is virtually impossible.
But the bigger the bubble the bigger the bust.

My GUESS is that prices in bubble markets like New York and California will give up roughly half the gains seen over the past four years by 2008 if we top out shortly. But if the price surge continues much longer the inevitable plunge will be that much worse.

i spent the summer in portland. thanks to the no sprawl rule, you should be a lot better off than most markets in any real estate problems. it is just impossible to overbuild. at least that was my impression.
