and isn't it what you want, to see the new posts created while you were reading? Do you, if you've already ready them? I think the problem is that the counter is reset when you click "submit." Well, it's not directly associated with the "Submit" button. But it is indirectly. If memory serves, the new posts count is reset when you hit the new posts number and when you've read the last post in a thread. And since you're taken to your own post after you've written it, you'll have read the last post in the thread.
