I have no opinion on whether or not real scientists are kept from researching these issues, other than that if they wanted to do so, and discuss the subject, they might very well be dissuaded by the knee-jerk reaction of the type you have witnessed here.

My sole point was responding to the silly notion that intelligent people aren't allowed to discuss various possible cause and effect relationships because some might be offended. Particularly, unfortunately, when it involves gender, sexual preference, race, or ethnic background.

It just strikes me that the politically-correct culture that prevails today may very well hamper a lot of badly-needed research into various areas of the social sciences. And I think that's a shame.
