Since you profess to be on term of geopolitical events and nations, I didn't think I would have to make a clearer distinction but obviously I do. Thanks, that explains everything! The first: Capitalism is so attractive that even communist nations are converting; The second: economic carrots can be used to encourage nations to democracy. Is that clearer now? Sure, but nobody is going to argue with either of those statements. When you write clearly, your view becomes a bit innocuous and not very provocative. Of course economic carrots can encourage democracy. So can sticks. Anything MIGHT work in a given situation.......
