:-) I can't believe it! I actually got reservations at the French Laundry for my birthday. Ever since my birth mom recommended Anthony Bourdain's books to me "Kitchen Confidential" and "A Cook's Tour"- I've wanted to go to the French Laundry- where Bourdain says he had a perfect meal. It's really hard to get through to make reservations. They take reservations exactly two months to the day that you want them, and they only take them by phone, from 10am to 2pm. Normally they are booked by 10:30 am. sterba.net I can't WAIT!!!!!

After your ordeal with the Passport People, I had to share with you that I dealt with the most helpful DMV person ever, yesterday. I had some complicated transactions- and every time I called the DMV they told me something different. So I brought this HUGE stack of papers with me, because each person I had spoken with had told me I needed a different, yet absolutely essential, piece of documentation. My very helpful DMV person didn't need any of it. And she even ascertained that our address had somehow been changed by the DMV on two of our vehicles (but not on the others- go figure). I think I may take her a bouquet of flowers today, since I have to bring some plates back to the DMV anyway. And do I have to stand in line? Nope. "Don't stand in line again, just come up to my window" she said :-)
