mindmeld,

You provide an interesting mixture of fact and fiction in your post. Let's deconstruct some of the disinformation you provide.

Re: Are you aware that the U.N. body is made up of countries who are almost united in their one-sided condemnation of Israel, without balancing out their condemnations with a condemnation of Palestinian and Arab terrorism against Israel?

Of course I'm aware of the status of the U.S. and Israel as being completely out-of-step with world opinion. Unfortunately, not nearly enough Americans have overcome the grotesque distortions perpetrated on them by a corrupt and disingenuous media disinformation campaign.

Let me refer you to two resources:

ifamericansknew.org
[Select 'Statistics' for a quick diagnosis of what most Americans have never been told by our corporate elites.]

"Peace, Propaganda and the Promised Land"
mediaed.org
is one of the premier documentaries that I've exhibited. It is a wonderful expose of the distortions and propaganda that the American public have been fed for decades by our one-sided and completely unfair mainstream media.

It was only after I began to really learn the history of the Middle East from unbiased sources that I found out how badly I had been defrauded by the American media moguls, many of whom have tribal ties to the State of Israel.

Here's an excellent way to begin to comprehend why Israel is so loathed world-wide:

Re: As far as American policies of the past decades in the Middle East causing today's destabilization, I have to agree. Our policy of propping up dictators and monarchies has to come to an end.

Oh, it is not just in the Middle East that the U.S. has been the most meddlesome, right-wing biased instigaotor of anti-democratic military putschs and death squads. The U.S. government is an equal opportunity destroyer of democracies across the planet. Here's a couple of rather comprehensive lists of American atrocities since the end of WW II:

"Let the Bloody Truth Be Told"
neravt.com

William Blum, "Killing Hope : U.S. Military and CIA Interventions Since World War II_Updated Through 2003"
tinyurl.com

One reviewer comments, "This is perhaps the best political book I have read, certainly the best on US foreign policy I have seen anywhere. Every American needs to get this book and investigate what it says. If they doubt its truthfulness they can look in other places to find further information, but the plain fact is most Americans would not know 99% of what is in this book...and they have to or our "democracy" is a joke."

THIS IS IMPORTANT: Americans don't know history. Americans don't know the true nature of our relationship to Israel. Americans don't know why the U.S. government is so loathed across the planet today. And until Americans educate themselves, they will continue to be abused by our corrupt militarist elites.

Re: As far as Al-Jazeera being close to BBC quality, excuse me, but I didn't know you were a stand up comedian.

Here is a classic example of an ignorant American. Do you know that the original staff of the al Jazeera network were former BBC employees? That they maintained the high standards of journalism that they'd been taught in the BBC system and that al Jazeera is just as loathed by many Middle East despots as it is by the neo-cons and other groupthink ideological extremists here in the U.S.?

Re: You were right when you said most Americans don't know what is really going on in the Middle East. You should also count yourself as one of them.

Unlike 99% of Americans, I do understand the Lavon Affair and the King David Hotel bombing. How about you?

Here's a quick test of your knowledge: What is the Mossad motto?

Are you aware that the U.N. body is made up of countries who are almost united in their one-sided condemnation of Israel, without balancing out their condemnations with a condemnation of Palestinian and Arab terrorism against Israel? Of course, the U.S. vetos those resolutions. They are too one-sided in favor of Palestine. The U.S. merely balances the scales a bit. Both the Israelis and the Palestinians have plenty of blame to share in their war against each other.

You all don't really want the truth......you just like throwing US weight around....alot. Israel's treatment of the Palestinians is nothing short of bad. When they suspect that a family has harbored a terrorist, they destroy that family's home. There is no court to make a fair inquiry into the matter.........its at the discretion of the Israeli military commander and becomes a done deal at his/her whim.

You all feel so much sympathy for Israeli children when they get killed by suicide bombers but care little for the Palestinian child killed by an errant bullet. How do you explain the varying worth of an Israeli child vs a Palestinian one?

Three times as many Palestinians have died during this latest infida than Israelis. Israel refuses to consider statehood for the Palestinians even though that was part of the UN mandate that gave them their freedom. The unemployment rate in Palestine routinely runs over 20%. Palestinians live in hovels.

And what's the consequence to Israel....nada! Israel hides behind the US shield. And when the rest of the world tries to correct a gross inequity, the US vetoes the complaint.

And then you wonder why 9/11 happened? Wake up and smell the coffee.......Israeli is taking more than Palestinian water.

Well when countries occupy land that is not their's, that's what tends to happen, the UN says you shouldn't do that. It's not really a surprise.

Both the Israelis and the Palestinians have plenty of blame to share in their war against each other.

Sure, but the well organized winner of the war has more responsibility to build the peace than the disorganized loser. Modern, educated, well developed people have more resources at their disposable than backward, uneducated, huddled masses.

Our policy of propping up dictators and monarchies has to come to an end.

So when do we tear down Saudi Arabia's political structure?

I think Bush's declaration of a new policy to spread Democracy throughout the Middle East is a step in the right direction.

Damn right! Gotta change Kuwait, Oman, the UAE and Saudi Arabia soon! Bomb 'em!

e winds of change are sweeping the Middle East and the last to recognize the coming change, as usual, are the liberals such as yourself.

Yeah, him, and the leadership of Oman, Kuwait, UAE and Saudi Arabia, they are all pretty slow to see the winds of change you are spouting about!

You were right when you said most Americans don't know what is really going on in the Middle East. You should also count yourself as one of them.

And then there's you, who probably doesn't even know what's going on in Miami, lecturing us ....
