I know a guy who saw a book in a shop that he recognized was written by Lenin before he changed his name. It seems only book people know weird stuff like that. :) He resold it for nice amount.

Sometimes stuff written in the margins make the book more interesting. I have a book about a World War I battle that was previously owned by a guy who was there. Every so often throughout the book he'll correct the author on some point and tell it like it really was.
