yes, I realize that, but the thing you may not realize is that Sharon is first and foremost a practical man. He knows when he is in a losing position. He's also very crafty. If I was Israeli, I'd want a man like Sharon leading me. He'll get the best deal possible for the Israelis. By the same toke, Abbas seems to be the first Palestinian leader of good faith since the inception of the Palestinians as a distinct people. So I am sure that if anyone can do good for the Palestinians it will be Abbas. Sharon is already trying to dismantle what he built in the West Bank, but he's finding it tough going. Extremists on both sides of the fence are tough to deal with. Abbas has his own issues with die-hard dead enders who don't want to respect a central authority.

So once again, I note that your post is one sided against the Israelis and mine is unbiased, citing problems in both camps.

That is the problem with the U.N. and Europe and everyone else for that matter. No one can look at this from both sides in an unbiased way. If we had Clinton leading this thing right now, I'd feel a heck of a lot better. Even though I'm Republican and didn't vote for Clinton, I think he'd make a great U.N. Chief. Kofi is a has-been.
