Oregon. We also have a state insurance company. The minimum policy however is $500/year. For a small farm that hires say $2k in labor/year in a state that already has one of the highest minimum wage rates in the country, this increases the labor cost. But the bigger issue is certain policy problems are not well addressed. My wife does ag consulting, and has employees that work in many different orchards, owned by her clients. We cover those employees under our own farm policy, but have never obtained a clear statement that an accident, not on our own property would be covered. I purchase this insurance through a local agent very familiar with covering ag situations, and he doesn't know either! It should not be this difficult.
