Voter registration is one of the headaches facing organisers
Afghanistan's delayed parliamentary elections may now take place in September, according to people close to the process.

Several Afghan and international sources have told the BBC that election officials have proposed a new date of 17 September.

Those figures are from several sources. Besides, they are corroborated in indirect ways. If the Taliban lied about the figures, then that could be easily disproved by the extent of opium traffic outside of Afghanistan.

Karzai "won" the election because they were so inconsequential that the warlords didn't even bother to disrupt them. Outside of Kabul and without the US lifeline, Karzai would be history within a few days.
