The biggest problem that German employers have is they are worse than American employers in their expectations of finding someone with 3-5 years of experience in a particular sub-specialty. Which is why American companies generally don't have as much problem finding people.

In addition, the Germans pay less for the same position than Americans do. One of my friends just took a pay cut to move back to Germany. He was working in the states and then Mexico, making about 10,000 Euros more than he will get at his new job at Audi.

As an aside, isn't the way the Germans count their unemployment rate different from than the way we do? It partly explains why their rate is always much higher. Have you heard that?
