"The Lebanon domino seems to have stood back up..."

To nobody's great surprise. Ok, too strong of a statement. There are some powerful forces arrayed against democracy sweeping through the ME like a wildfire. Not the least of which is the perception by many that democracy is anti-Islam. That particular stick was applied in Iraq. It didn't work for a number of reason, not the least of which is that Iraq wasn't a particularly strong Islamic state under Saddam. There were other reasons, like the Shia were tired of being second class citizens in a country where they are a majority. Those two factors aren't in many of the ME countries. So it is hard to tell how things might shake out.

Now the concept of democracy can sweep through countries. Look at how most of Europe shed their monarchies in a very short period of time. But they had been edging towards democracy for centuries before. Something that is totally lacking in most of the ME.
