Griffith showed a huge sea battle in one of his early movies, it was shot in a tank about the size of bathtub with miniatures. That was a "special effect". Why is there a framing square sitting on the ruined engine component? The obvious (and facile) answer would be that someone wanted to helpfully provide something by which to judge the size of the engine. But just as easily, a disinformation site like Rense.com could have provided the framing square as a means of deceit. Not that it would matter to people who are unfamiliar with the standard American 16 inch by 24 inch framing square.
