i know it's done a lot better now, but "anesthesiologist" used to consist of a nurse dribbling ether onto a cotton swab.

Now it's one of the highest paid specializations.

This is why I'd be willing to keep on my current plan after retiring if I could have a variant with a $10000 deductible, maybe $25000 by then, if I could get small premiums. The discounts alone would be worth their weight in gold. As it is my parents-in-law are on my plan (in retirement) and pay over $900/mo.
