< I know lots of Mormon people in my area and they are the nicest people you would want to meet. My disagreement with them is doctrinal. I do not believe there are many gods and I do not believe that God was once a man and that he attained godhood through obedience to his god and so on back in an eternal regression.

It isn't just the Mormons (who may be some of the "nicest" people around in a weird standoffish way), but the Jews and Muslims as well with their varying accounts of what Jehovah or Allah wants from us. These are what I call the Bedouin Religions. It isn't that they don't have any value to the people who believe in their sundry texts and dogma, but that they don't provide a coherent doctrine and each claims to have a unique grasp of THE UNIVERSAL truth. That such closely united religions can have such manifestly different set of rules suggests that they are full of errors.

"OTOH Jesus is a historical figure and the Biblical accounts are contemporary eyewitness accounts. The people, places and things mentioned in the New Testament are verifiably true"

CRAP!! Read the "CHRIST CONSPIRACY!" Read anything from objective modern scholarship! Get your head out of the sand. Give the ostrich her due... ;-)
