I lived in Florida for 19 years and left in 2000. I was there last week for a visit and I am amazed at the cost of living now. Housing has nearly doubled since I left. Though there is no income tax, real estate taxes are sky high. The cost of homeowner's insurance...holy cow. Gas seems to be higher compared to neighboring states...and I saw an ad running on TV referencing a real estate tax crisis. I wanted to come back and buy a summer home, but...
