Their emails no longer are inconsistent to their public claims though. These days, the large brokerage firms have hired people to read each and every email the analysts have sent and received, according to a contact whose friend reads their emails as her job to identify any possible unethical behavior. But no one knows how to get inside their heads, so I guess you could be right since what they think could be different from what they say. But that would be a bit of a stretch.
