Ummm... sorta... it's bad, but it's stable. Or it was stable.

Compared to sub-Saharan Africa, it's a utopia and I'd rather have us be there.

Take the "threat" issue out of the way and there's no comparison between the two areas at this point.

Ted, Of course, that's not what JF is saying.

I'll let JF speak for himself. All I'm doing is presenting an alternate viewpoint for Mindmeld.

Huh? After MM mentioned a comment from JF and others, you said some are "coming from the mindset". That implies you were explaining JF's mindset.

Why do you do this.....twists things to suit your purposes?

I don't think I'm twisting anything. Wouldn't you and JF and Z agree that the Middle East is a mess? Is there something we can do about it, or are they always going to reject Western ideals like democracy and equal rights for women?

I believe there is something that can be done about the ME mess. However, I don't believe invading countries is the solution. Its my experience that people learn very little by being forced to learn something; that is, they do their best learning on their own volition.

Bush's latest excuse for invading Iraq is that we are going to force feed them democracy. Its that to which I object and not trying to make some efforts to improve things in the ME. As for JF and Z, we all have different views on the subject. As far as I can tell, JF believes the invasion is ca ca and doesn't really think much can be done to help the ME. Z believes that had the invasion been done right, things would be much better. However, he also thinks the current invasion is ca ca.

People who don't follow the party line tend to exhibit independent thinking. That's why it can be folly to try and capture their thinking in one or two lines.
