<Schools I believe should be year round having trimesters with 2 weeks between each. >

It would be nice if our jobs worked the same way. You're right - we do what we are trained to do. It is a huge mistake to think that everyone in your society will be a degreed professional. And its sad that our schools only emphasize scholarship but not other talents.

That's why it is so foolish to out-source all the jobs that allow people of modest intellectual ability to have good lives. Not only will that lead to social instability (a practical reason) it is not very kind (a spiritual reason). Everyone has the need to be valued. If they can't get it through legal means, then they will pursue it through the illegal. Outsourcing jobs will lead to higher crime as more people get pushed down the economic food chain.

There are all sorts of reasons people don't work all the time. I was just unemployed for two years because there were literally hundreds of applicants for every tiny little stupid job in the town where I live--very high unemployment here during the recession. It is false to assume that anyone who is not working is doing so voluntary. People who have trouble holding down a job when work is available may either be choosing work that is totally unsuitable for them or they may have untreated emotional problems that should be addressed.

I do agree with you that vocational education needs to be of much higher quality. Not everyone is going to be successful at graduating from college and getting a job that way. Unfortunately, I just read an article about Bush cutting education funding, particularly vocational education. If I can find the article, I will post it.
