Rather made a mistake and paid with his job. Cronkite called it as he saw it.

Rather didn't "make a mistake". He had a 20-year career that consisted of relentless attacks against conservatives in his purportedly "unbiased" forum at CBS.

Look at Armstrong Williams or Gannon/Guckert or whatever his name is. Here we have the White House buying journalists...a free press, particularly one that says things in opposition is crucial to democracy...you don't seem to understand that..

Oh, bullcrap. This incident had nothing to do with a "free press". It is no different than what has been done with 1000 other initiatives over the years, from drug education to attempts to inform the public about services available to them.

All Rather did was what Fox does on a daily basis.......run with a story without checking the facts. Its a major tell on how much these yahoos believe in the credibility of the mainstream press....because they can't stop being scandalized. It also shows they know that Fox is a POS.

After all, you never see them take on Fox and their numerous and vary public screwups. My God, Fox found WMDs in Iraq at least 20 times before going silent on the subject. Nope.....Fox can make Rather mistakes day in and day out and they ignore them.

CBS is a branded and respected media giant. Fox is the National Enquirer of cable news. There is no comparison <EOS>
