I sometimes drive a wind-powered vehicle and have found strangely that you pretty much have to drive it where the wind wants you to go. Often you can get where you want to go but sometimes you just can't. Do you suppose that make wind-powered vehicles less attractive? You would think that - wind being free and all - that wind power would be pretty attractive. It hasn't proven to be the case.

"Try driving a vehicle with solar or wind power and see how cost effective that is."

Vehicles aren't the ONLY use for energy.

(Of course, electric vehicles would be able to use wind or solar derived electricity... the same as electricity from ANY OTHER SOURCE, such as from nuclear power or coal power or hydropower plants.....)

"Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's plan to power a million homes and businesses with the sun moved forward Tuesday, despite concerns that ratepayers would be stuck subsidizing the ambitious expansion of solar energy.

The legislation would invest $2 billion in rooftop photovoltaic systems — panels that turn sunshine into electricity. Customers with solar panels would save money by producing their own energy and could sell excess power back to the electric grid."
