Remember your favorite organization? Amnesty International?

They adopted these principles:

web.amnesty.org

I call your attention to Article 5, among others.

These principles were adopted back in 1948. They apply to every nation, every person...and we must all stand up for these rights, or risk losing them for ourselves.

Torture is a basic right? I'm not talking about normal POW treatment, which by the way is very close to what you are guaranteed as an american citizen. We are talking about mistreatment.

Why do we in America have guaranteed rights and priviliges? Perhaps it's because it's the right things to do? If it's the right things to do then every human deserves this kind of treatment.

Your side always hears this and comes back with, "You want to coddle and be nice to the terrorists and hope you can reason with them and maybe they'll go away."

To hell with that. If they have had due process and they are proven terrorists, lock them up and throw away the key. But give them due process. Give it to them in the clear and open light of freedom where all can see and bear witness to the truth of your actions. Not in the dark rooms of fearful hiding. If torture is really OK why do they have to do it in a dark room far from prying eyes?

Only when we prosecute these people in the open with a transparent process that the entire world can view will we ever truly be free of terrorism.
