Umm, right. And then I suppose that the Republican party was dying while it was obstructing Clinton's appointments and shutting down the federal government?

That didn't' count, as everyone knows that clinton was a "scum bag" as one republican congressman refered to him while in office. I noticed DeLay was complaining about politics of personal destruction today....

The Republicans did not obstruct Clinton's appointments -- certainly not in the way the liberals have. For example, the liberals under Daschle literally changed the rules on filibusters on the judges. Republicans never did anything remotely like that.

As to shutting down the federal government, I thought it was brilliant when they did it, obviously the right thing to do, and was pleased to have seen it. The country would have been better off had the Republicans not run such an inept PR campaign. As a result, we don't see this anymore, as we should. Hell, I think shutting it down is something that ought to be done for a couple months every year anyway.
