Oh dear, more deep irony. NRA types never did much hold with the existence of the " well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State" clause, so I guess it's a appropriate enough.

There is no place for an armed militia in a democratic society."

You seem to think that a "well-regulated" militia, to use the 2nd Amendment's language is the same thing as a warlord with his own private army, or worse, a warlord with an army in the pay of a foreign power, as Hizbullah is in Lebanon.

This is very confused thinking. Control of all branches of the military, including militias, by the civilian government is the backbone of the US Constitution.

That line may have tickled your fancy, but i do expect more from you. US constitution of course does not permit criminal terrorist organizations like hizbollah. If i am not mistaken doesnt it refer to regulated militia and of course the constitution was written 200 years ago in a different time.

What a great banner to put behind Cheney the next time he speaks to the NRA.

Hi neolib; Re: "There is no place for an armed militia in a democratic society."

These kinds of comments belie the left wing origin of the "neoconservatives". It makes me long for the days when the Republicans were a minority party.
