<the majority supported the war. You seem to forget that>

In the runup to the war, the majority of Americans supported the war on condition that it was run through the UN -- Bush and pals pretended to play along and fed false information to the US public about the threat to push the approval of the war above even to get the war started, and counted on patriotism to seal the deal once the shooting started. The majority did not support the war until manipulated into believing there was a real threat, and even now support for the war is weak. You love to rewrite history.

In terms of people who knew better, Rumsfeld and Cheney were adamantly deaf to the warnings and punished those who spoke about them publicly.
