The majority did not support the war until manipulated into believing there was a real threat, and even now support for the war is weak.

No, GST, the majority supported the war and thought we had done the right thing by invading Iraq. Approval was as high as 65% at one point, then dropped to the low 50s, which is where it was in the last Gallup poll I saw asking the question.

If the majority had really thought as you claim, Bush would have lost the election. He won. His job approval rating is currently 52%, according to Gallup.
