What about the guy in Utah who was convicted of polygamy and sent to prison (his name escapes me)? A couple years ago.

I kind of had a strange idea about it, as I felt the guy was just following his religious beliefs, and it seems strange to me that a law against polygamy would trump someone's right to practice their religion as they see fit.

This isn't a subject I know much about, but I did think they had convicted that guy of polygamy.
