I believe you. I know what you say about Chinese trucks to be true. You may have missed my point. One reason they "smoke" so bad is that they may be using high-sulfur gas because they have not upgraded their refineries to process it properly.

This same situation is true in other SE Asia countries. Vietnam comes to mind as a good example.

If the Asian refineries can't make sweet gas from sour crude, then they do not have excess capacity that is available to us. However, they could export the good stuff and sell the bad stuff domestically, thereby effectively creating capacity for us. So, nothing is ever simple!!

If you have been in China 20 years ago, or 10 years ago, you may have a slightly different opinion.

What they have accomplished under the circumstances is probably unmatched by any developing nations in the world. Yes, it is still pretty bad but at least they are heading in the right direction.
