Ionesco, as I noted, I'm too sick to think very clearly or decide what I think about rewarding students that way. I would want to put most education money in universal preschools, preschool intervention programs, and also in identifying toxic families and removing children from them before they are irreparably harmed. I am also concerned, as someone else mentioned, about what happens when these children move on from your classes and are no longer rewarded. I realize this is an extremely frustrating situation for a teacher of older children. I just am not very articulate at the moment.
