cosmic,

I just don't get the wingnut mindset, that if a person wants to correct an imperfection in our society, they are against the whole society and hate it. It is the most juvenile, assinine explanation one could come up with. It is sort of like finding a cancerous mole on one's body and not wanting to have it removed. Because if you wanted to do something to cure it, have it removed, etc. you hated your WHOLE body. Wow! What can I say.. Except I KNOW why THEY voted for and support the Bush policies.. <g>

You made the outrageous statement: "we provoked Japan in the late 1920's so they could become our enemy in WWII." I haven't misrepresented your sentiment at all. Your statement claimed the US wanted war, wanted Japan to be our enemy, and provoked them into going to war against us. Use of the word "deserves" fits your claim quite accurately.

"If I took the position that everything the U.S. did was justified, measured and appropriate, would you support that?"

No, but you're taking a position pretty much exactly opposite of that. You condemned the US (falsely) for allegedly arming Saddam to fight an aggressive war against Iran, then later condemned the US for refusing to support Japan's aggressive war against China. A great example of the US being damned if it does and damned if it doesn't.

"Could you find anything where it wasn't or is everything ever done by the U.S. worthy of respect?"

I haven't made a claim of perfection for the US - I wish liberals would stop this creating this strawman in order to lie about my positions.

"That's a little different than making racial slurs part of the national policy, but I'm not surprised you don't see it. "

Thanks for the gratitous insult. What does a complaint about wartime propaganda have to do with bogus claims about the starting of the war anyway?

"Who was Patriot Act I/II protecting us from?"

Uh, the folks who flew planes into the TC and Pentagon among other terrorist attacks agaisnt us.

"If YOU had bombed the WTC, your family would have been in lock down if the Feds were doing their job. With interference at the highest levels, relatives of the leader of the attacking group were allowed to leave during an aviation lock-down. "

Sorry this silly conspiracy theory was dismissed by the 911 Commission.

"So, if we think that getting off our oil habit is a matter of national security that has been delayed by oil interests for the last 30 years, we're not patriotic."

So if liberals were to rejoice over an oil embargo, it'd only be because they want to cure America of an oil "habit"? Yeah, it'd actually be a patriotic act to rejoice over an oil embargo. Sure.

" <China was not in a position to build an empire.> Good. At least you used past tense. Progress. And why is so important to send every American job over there? Money? Greed? The Chinese are still corrupt and Communists, right? Thought so."

Geez can you stick to a topic at all? What does today's trade with China have to do with the starting of WWII?

Re. the "former KGB neo-Stalinists" characterization, when Putin opposed the Iraq war was he a respected foreign leader or a "former KGB neo-Stalinist"? HAH.

Re. WMD's you miss the point that pretty much everybody of every political persuasion thought Saddam had large stockpiles of them prior to the war. Since the war, the Duelfer report has shown Saddam did have the programs to create WMD's and intended to do so again. Since he'd used WMD's before, its actually quite lucky if we got him before he got a second chance.
