That information is not available. Why? Because the NRA has fought every effort at any sort of registration of guns.

Btw: I see you're right on the CA law in selling guns, but there is no registration requirement except for gun importers and for assault guns. New residents are required to inform the gov about handguns they've brought in, but not rifles or shotguns. You don't have to inform the gov if you dispose of a gun. I think that extending the California laws to other states would be a great first step, but the NRA will fight it all the way.

I would fear the criminal less if it weren't so easy for them to obtain guns. A lack of registration make for more guns on the street. Tighter registration will reduce the supply of 'loose' guns while allowing legitimate owners access.
