Hi Festus,

re: <<If you carefully observe the videos of her and her reactions to people>>

As I understand it, that video we all see was made a number of years ago and has been carefully selected from literally hundreds of hours of videos, the rest unfortunately do not exhibit much, if any response from her. And maybe if we do accept a "response" from her, do we really know what she is trying to convey?

Maybe she is pleading to the people around her to "let her go". I don't know and I'm sure many others, including the politicians that are exploiting her and her condition, don't either.

In Oregon only the patient can initiate the assisted suicide, has to be within six months of death with a terminal illness, must be well enough to take the medication unassisted, etc. There are a whole lot of laws governing how this is all done, so no one but the patient has any say whatsoever. So you would have been fully alive right now if you lived in Oregon.

Interestingly, the number of assisted suicides in Oregon is smaller than anticipated, based on the numbers of terminally ill people there. Apparently knowing that you still have some other option, some control in the process, causes people to be able to deal with impending death better, and not so many of them request it as expected.

Coug is correct. Those videos playing endlessly were little snippets taken from lots of film. According to Schiavo's guardian, her eyes dart around the room a lot. If you carefully edit the video it could look like she was responding, without that being so. She has no working brain, no self awareness.
