Since you are sharing...

Something that sticks with me is this time in my life when my dad put our cat out of its misery. It was an old cat and could hardly move around.

I went out to my garage to get a drink from the fridge and heard a faint meow. I called my cat, "Hear kitty, hear kitty". It cried out again in a faint meow.

I looked around for the cat but could not find it anywhere. I remember spotting a grocery bag, one of the paper sacks, sitting in a corner. I really did not wan the cat to be in there. When I glanced into the bag I was immediately broken by the sight of my cat curled up in that bag, suffering for God knows how long.

Not knowing what to do I went to my mother and asked if dad had killed the cat. She said yes, and then coyly asked why. I told her that the cat was outside in the bag, but it was alive. She broke into tears immediately. (My mom loves animals).

She went to the closet and handed me a .22 caliber pistol. I walked out back and shot my cat in the head as it stared up at me through its glossy eyes. I dug a hole and buried it in my backyard.

Life can be a bitch at times.
