My understanding of question #1 is that the parents challenged the husband and lost.

As to question #2, Florida doesn't recognize common law marriages but even if they did, you can't get married via a common law marriage if you are already married. Bigamy is illegal.

But if your larger point is that his new relationship makes him seem like he's no longer the person to act for her, I agree. There's things about this case that just stink to high Heaven.
