Well, To me Social Security is MY MONEY and NOT part of the Federal spending. I know THEY dont see it that way, but I will never agree that they just TOOK MY MONEY. Medicare is something that should be a win win for everyone, including the Govt. Its that BIG POOL of participants that makes it so good. Now, if they would just get SERIOUS about FRAUD in the program I suspect it might be nearly self supporting. Remember it ISNT FREE. True the payments are very low but also remember we paid in from our salaries for YEARS before even qualifying. Defense, is self explanatory and the REAL REASON to even have a Federal Govt at all. Can we do it cheaper, seems to me that is what Rummy is trying to do. One problem is OUR CONGRESS who continues to not allow obsolete base closures, or ships unneeded to not be built, or planes unneeded to be cancelled. Then there is our new Homeland Security (which I consider Defense). To me all these departments are SUPERFOLOUS and ought to be cut back. Need more INDIANS and less CHIEFS. jdn
