If you get book notes on your CSPAN II- see if you can catch the author of The End of Poverty. I think you would really find him fascinating. What an interesting economist he is. He is struggling to get the World BAnk and the US to help the poorest of the poor. His examples are fascinating. He talks about a US AID program that has sold about 3,000 mosquito nets to the poor, when he says "WHY should the poorest of the world's poor be sold these?" He was in the country (I can't remember which one) with a donation of 75,000 mosquito nets from a Japanese company. His talk was compelling. I know what he said would resonate with you.
