There is no sales tax on housing in Washington state. There is an excise tax of 1.28% on the sale of real property. Washington also has property tax and a severe B&O tax that taxes the top line of businesses.

BTW, Boeing recently relocated to Chicago out of Washington and you can bet the tax environment had something to do with it.
