Seems to me that the split is between people who believe in the "right" to commit suicide, and those who don't. I say this because, until now, "pulling the plug" meant recognizing that death was inevitable, and letting the person die a natural death.

Here, the argument seems to me to be that Terri would rather have committed suicide than live in her condition, but she is not able to commit suicide, so her proxy is merely acting as her agent in carrying out those wishes on her behalf.

Have I got it right?
