I'm sorry your family has suffered so, but the level of hatred for someone who happens to think differently than you and your friends and family is amazing.

I can't remember the last time I saw this amount of intolerance over an issue in America. As a rational human being I try to understand every side and reach conclusions based on what I read and see. I admit I need more information.....like what her ct scan looks like, or better yet an MRI and full access to her autopsy. As Americans we are entitled to rights....I was hoping the District Court would determine de novo any claim of a violation of any right of Terry. This is one of the reasons I'm so disappointed. But I'm not so callous that I am going to go around calling everyone that supports the removal of her feeding tube murderers, despicable, brainwashed, out for political or monetary gain, lacking in brains, guts or a lunatic lynch mob, irrational fanatics, extremist, insane, hallucinatory, or comparable to the Taliban.

You can demonize every one of us that hoped Terry be allowed her rights to die in her own time, without assistance all you want.........I really don't care......but your inflammatory rhetoric illustrates a large degree of intolerance and immaturity and you've lost a good deal of credibility as well as any rights to the discussion as far as I'm concerned.

Her family and the people who have been brainwashed by the MSM are seriously deluded.

One of the interesting aspects of this to me is how many people whom I have known on SI for a long time and believe to be intelligent and sane have bought the line that she is functioning. I keep reading hoping to figure out how that happened.

I don't think the MSM are to blame other than the amount of air time they've given to this, which includes people claiming she communicates or that brain tissue could have grown back since that CAT scan in '02. The evidence on this is very one sided and most of the TV I've watched has been skeptical of those claims. I caught some of Scarborough yesterday and he was clearly sympathetic to them but others are clearly not. I think it was Dan Abrams yesterday who interviewed one of the neurologists who examined her for the court. He was asked how the parents could believe what they believe and he sympathetically attributed it to understandable wishful thinking. Re the Mayo clinic neurologist, he attributed it to the fact that he hadn't actually looked at the test results, just met with Terri, that he had an agenda, and that he never actually said that she had a functioning brain, merely tried to finesse the label for the diagnosis (in a way that would exclude it from the Florida law--my inference).

I really wish I could understand what my intelligent and sane SI buds are thinking.

I've had the TV news on mute in the background all day and I see that other news is now being covered, no more all-Schiavo TV.

BTW, one of the things that doctor mentioned was that an MRI, as you said, shows no more than the CAT scan plus that, at the time he was evaluating her, the only way to get a PET scan (I think it was) was to take her to New York. He didn't elaborate about the scarcity. Can you interpret that last bit for me?

Are you and yours still so horrified as you were a bit ago, now that everyone's friendly fast-as-a-speeding-bullet-when-a-camera-is-around Rev (from someplace) Jesse Jackson has stepped in in to shed some 'light' on the subject??? So much for the radical Right....

Enter Stage Left, the other end of the spectrum...

I must be reading you incorrectly jrhana...Your posts recently sound as if you really hate what you do for a living.

Saving lives may not be your calling.

Surely there would be another vocation that would cause you less stress.
