Let's say a police officer is confronted with a hostage situation. The crook is holding a weapon to a victim's head and is threatening to pull the trigger, so the officer shoots first, killing the crook. Later, it was discovered that the weapon was a fake.

Now you tell me. Is the officer guilty of murder?

In human terms no, if he really believed that the gun was real, and the crook was not allowing him to inspect it for authenticity.

But in Christ's terms, well, that's another story. I mean, one really can't live true to Christ's teachings in the real world, and how can God's teachings be subjective?
