I guess your point is that, as PVS is ordinarily defined, people in PVS can't swallow.

But, you see, it doesn't matter anymore. Once Judge Greer found that she was PVS back in 2000, that's res judicata.

f you can swallow saliva you can swallow food.

The problem with trying to swallow food when your "swallower" doesn't work well is that you risk aspirating the food--it "goes down the wrong pipe." Getting food in your lungs is a serious problem.
