why do tech investors still think CEOs are some kind of messiahs? HP stock goes up 10% and NCR drops 17% due to the CEO moving. does the "efficient" market really "know" that Mr. Hurd's loss is that big of a blow to NCR, and that big of a gain to HP? why did NCR lose so much? obviously, their CEO left not because of a problem with the co, but because some other company with even stupider directors will give him even more money from the shareholders. HP investors also bid up the company when Fiorina was hired. then they bid it up again when she was fired. hopefully Mr. Hurd will "perform" better--his nickname is already obvious if he does poorly.
