By "professionals" I was referring to managers of mutual funds, which are about 60% of my non real estate investments. Fifteen years ago it was close to 100%. I do the asset allocation between fund types and choose the funds.

For the other 40% I personally pick mostly stocks but also pick bonds for a small laddered bond portfolio.

Considering I'm an electronics engineer, I've taken on a lot of investment responsibility. Many might say too much, but I sleep well. :-)
